I'm not sure you need private messages at all. You are right that if I'm only inviting close friends to join I already have all of their contact information. If I make a new friend at a gathering we'll exchange contact information there.

OK. Just updated the way gatherings are organized. It should have been sending out an email when someone was interested in attending your event. Thats fixed.

Ok, I get it. Just trying to wrap my brain around the whole Gather.at concept. But I agree, you don't want another fake friend network.

Sven, I don't want to encourage strangers randomly approaching strangers. If you want to meet someone you don't know, meet them at an event.

I think events need to have descriptions so your friends can have a better idea of what the gathering is going to be like, but private messages isn't a priority at the moment because if someone is your friend you would already have their email and telephone number anyway.

Descriptions and private messages will be in the next version.

Does there exist the ability to send a friend (or prospective aquaintance) a message? (kind of like in mixi) I mean, the basic idea is that we meet people in person as much as possible, but wouldn't it be good to be able to message a couple of times online as well with a friend, or in order to arrange a meetup with someone you don't yet know? (although I understand that is what the "Gatherings" tab is for.) I'm typing here from a Japanese internet cafe in Sapporo. Yeah... I use the internet too much...

Cool! But as far as the foreign characters it seems to work fine so far, just wouldn't display right undersomeone else's friend icons, but that's as yet unproblemattic. But I can't seem to even access a "My Profile" page. Do you think that would change if I reregistered? It doesn't seem like my name having some Japanese in it would affect being able to view the "My profile" page. (ne?) Anyway, it's night here, so tomorrow maybe I'll reregister and see if that makes a diff. But the site looks great! And, yeah, I can see the rest of your post so the paragraph cutoff has been fixed. :)

Right now we can't handle non alpha numeric characters. So re-register with your first and last name (using the same email and the same password and using non japanese characters, it should work.

Now if you can't see what I'm about to write, then we missed a few bugs. But the following should be resolved:

- forum has limit of how much content can be posted, cuts off after a paragraph or two [FIXED]
- people not directly connected to you can't attend events or see the "I would like to attend" link [INVESTIGATING]
- profile does not properly format non-alphanumeric characters in the name ie; "." or spaces [FIXED]
- there should be a gathering description, also displayed when you view the gathering (not a bug) [Added to todo]
- Lithuania is not listed as a country [FIXED]

Looks great, Ejovi! 2 little things you're probably already aware of. Currently the profile page won't display. (So anyone like me who just joined can't make their profile or add a picture.) And second, Japanese names don't appear to display correctly

I agree. There is also a problem in that the gathering doesn't display the topic name and allow people not directly connected to you to attend. Kinda important. Working on it now.

It would be really nice to have a way to add a description to a gathering.

btw, not too shabby for your initial launch! I see a couple of rough edges, but overall this site is really nice on the eyes.

Not a major issue, but its distracting sometimes. The consistency of the pages. Just capitalization and grammar issues. Like privacy and logout at the top should be capitalized or Friendship and About Gather At should be lower cased. Also, in my profile t

Not a bug but a way to change your e-mail (logon) would be helpful.
